TEACHING
With almost a decade of teaching experience, I believe sociology’s role is to help us critically understand the world around us, and I infuse this belief into every aspect of my pedagogy. In the classroom, I prioritize active learning through engaging discussions, case studies, and hands-on activities that challenge students to step outside their lived experiences and grapple with perspectives that may be unfamiliar or uncomfortable.
My approach blends theoretical rigor with real-world relevance, ensuring that sociological concepts—from systemic inequality to the social construction of identity—are grounded in contemporary issues. I design assignments that cultivate both analytical skills and empathy, such as coding biased rhetoric in media or debating policy responses to specific social movements. As an educator, I strive to foster an inclusive environment where students feel empowered to engage critically while respecting diverse viewpoints. Ultimately, my goal is to equip students with the tools to think sociologically—not just in academia, but as informed citizens navigating an increasingly complex social and political landscape.
