University Policy & Community Advocacy Work

As both a scholar and engaged member of the academic community, I bridge research and practice through policy work focused on equity and institutional reform. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I serve as Lead Creator of a pioneering program supporting the safety and professional development of TA Networks —TAs from marginalized communities that experience unique challenges in the classroom—an initiative born from my lived experience and research on systemic inequalities in higher education. In addition, through my role on the Teaching & Learning Advisory Council at UW-Madison, I provide a graduate student perspective on teaching-related policies for the university and advocate for resources to counter discrimination in classrooms.

Beyond the classroom, I have created and helped lead groups intended to help graduate students' professional development. These include a Black fellowship writing group and an interdisciplinary reading group for students studying whiteness across UW-Madison.

Off campus, I collaborate with community members to advance public understandings of institutional inequality and avenues for advocacy. I have given professional development lectures on understanding whiteness in clinical psychology and higher education; and I have written microaggression policies for a Montessori School and a counseling center in Madison, WI to ensure safety and respect for all members of the community.
